The SUV model BYD Seal U, which BYD is preparing to introduce in the Turkish market, had its premiere in Geneva before Europe. This model has two different versions: 100% electric and PHEV (rechargeable hybrid). The version that will be brought to Turkey will be equipped with a hybrid system called DM-i.
BYD Seal U coming to Turkey! Range up to 1080 km!
BYD Seal U looks like a larger and wider version of the BYD Seal sedan model that was previously exhibited in our country. The model, currently known as “BYD Song Plus” in China, has a length of 4785 mm, a width of 1890 mm, a height of 1668 mm and a wheelbase of 2765 mm. The flat floor design offers plenty of legroom for those sitting in the rear seats, while the rear seats can be folded in a 60:40 ratio, offering a luggage volume ranging from 552 to 1,440 liters.
The 100% electric version will be sold in Europe with LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery options with a capacity of 71 kWh or 87 kWh. The front-wheel drive model has a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 160 kW (218 hp) power and 330 Nm torque. While the model can reach a maximum speed of 175 km/h, it offers a range of up to 605 kilometers according to Chinese standards. However, the WLTP range in Europe has not yet been determined.
BYD SEAL U DM-i uses “Smart Dual Engine/Intelligent” technology. This technology combines high performance, comfortable driving and an electric motor with a conventional engine. The four-cylinder 72kW (96 hp) 1.5-litre gasoline engine is combined with a 145 kW electric motor and paired with an automatic transmission.
BYD SEAL U DM-i, which has an 18.3 kWh Blade Battery, offers an average electric range of 80 kilometers according to WLTP measurements when charged. This range can go up to 110 kilometers in the city. The total range of the model reaches up to 1080 kilometers, which makes the rechargeable hybrid BYD SEAL U model ideal for long journeys.
The new model also attracts attention with its dynamic performance. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 170 km/h. Additionally, it offers a very economical option with an average consumption of 0.9 lt/100 km according to WLTP norms. Sales of BYD Seal U in Turkey will begin in the second quarter of 2024.
