Frankfurt, San Francisco, New York Big tech stocks are having a black week. Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Microsoft have lost nearly $700 billion in value since Tuesday night, data from financial service Bloomberg shows. For comparison: All 40 companies in the leading German index Dax together are worth around 1.5 trillion dollars.

While the leading US index Dow Jones rose by almost 400 points on Friday after the stock market opened, things are still going badly for tech stocks. The Amazon share loses around nine percent. The Facebook mother Meta hardly recovered with a plus of one percent, also at Google mother Alphabet and Microsoft there was only a slight increase.

Since Wednesday, the major tech papers have all been deep in the red. Within two days, Meta lost 27 percent, Alphabet ten percent, Microsoft seven percent, Amazon eight percent and Apple four percent.
