Dusseldorf Grita Loebsack will become a member of the Beiersdorf Executive Board on January 1, 2022. The supervisory board of the consumer goods manufacturer announced on Thursday. The Hamburg-based group has created a new position on the Management Board for Loebsack: the 51-year-old will be responsible for the Nivea core brand, with which Beiersdorf generates a large part of its sales.

“With Grita Loebsack, Beiersdorf is gaining an experienced manager with broad international experience in skin care and in the management of global brands,” said Supervisory Board Chairman Reinhard Pöllath, according to a corporate announcement. Loebsack previously worked as Head of Marketing at the French eyewear manufacturer Essilor Luxottica.

With this, the Dax group is further restructuring its management level. Several board members have been replaced in the past few months. The departure of CEO Stefan de Loecker at the end of April after only two years in office was particularly surprising. The French Vincent Warnery took his place.

This is quoted in the communication as follows: “I am sure that Nivea will develop into an even more global, digital and sustainable brand that will delight our consumers around the world.”

New board member Loebsack has broad management experience in skin care as well as global branding through previous management positions at Essilor or Unilever. She started at L’Oréal in 1996, where she spent a total of 16 years in various senior marketing and business functions. In 2012 she moved to the consumer goods manufacturer Unilever, and later to Essilor.

Management board restructuring completed for the time being

Loebsack graduated from the London School of Economics and did her Master of Business Administration at the French business school Insead. Born in Germany, she speaks five languages, is married and has three children.

With the addition of Loebsack, Beiersdorf has for the time being completed its restructuring of the Executive Board. Astrid Hermann took over the finance department in January, and in June the Hamburg-based company appointed two more new board members: Patrick Rasquinet and Oswald Barckhahn.

At the beginning of April the departure of Marketing Director Asim Naseer was announced. Loebsack will also take over his functions.

The traditional group, which is majority owned by Maxinvest Holding owned by the Herz family, had suffered severely from the corona restrictions. In 2020, sales slumped by 5.7 percent to around seven billion euros, but in the first nine months of 2021, sales recovered significantly.

In the autumn, Beiersdorf was promoted to the expanded Dax 40 after the company had been relegated in the spring after having been with the company for decades.
