Dramatic scenes in Austria: A mother (38) and her son (11) left one on Friday ski-Lift collapsed. According to police reports, they fell eight meters! The father (41) was still able to cling to the lift – and thus prevented him from falling down too.
The Tyrol State Police Department reported that the family’s four-seater chair suddenly slipped backwards for an unknown reason. As a result, they crashed into the unoccupied chair behind them. The accident happened in Schwendau in the Zillertal.
The woman suffered serious injuries to her back and pelvis, police said. The son and husband were also injured, but investigators did not provide any further information about them.
The family was taken to a hospital in Innsbruck by rescue helicopter. The chairlift has stopped operating for the time being. The police are now investigating what exactly caused the terrible accident.
