AMC Networks announced today at San Diego Comic-Con that Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, and Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, will reunite for a new series in the expanding universe around The Walking Dead.
The name of the series has not yet been specified. On the other hand, according to the information received, the production will be a 6-episode mini-series. It was announced that the production will be published in 2023. There are currently three productions in the same universe with TWD. However, the only production to be added to them is not limited to this.
Tales of The Walking Dead will be an anthology series
Tales of the Walking Deadwill tell new stories with independent chapters containing new characters. Unlike the current The Walking Dead series, it seeks to expand the concept of the universe that audiences have been watching for years. For this, each episode will focus on a different character and tell small stories. Characters from existing series will also be featured in the anthology along with the new cast, potentially offering a different take on the increasingly aging hit series.
On the other hand, although it has not been clarified yet, another production awaits the TWD universe. The main series’ favorite supporting role was undoubtedly the character Daryl Dixon. Aware of the interest in the character, AMC is considering a new production for the character played by Norman Reedus. It is stated that the shooting of this series will begin in early 2023.
