Berlin Due to the increased interest rates on real estate loans, more and more families have put off their plans to build or buy their own home in the past year. Federal Building Minister Klara Geywitz wants to counteract this with reduced loans. “The corresponding KfW program with low-interest loans should be available from June 1st,” the minister told the “Welt am Sonntag”.

According to Geywitz, 350 million euros per year are available for the programme. According to the construction minister, it makes more sense to issue low-interest loans than to support families directly, such as with child support.

Families with an income of up to 60,000 euros per year should be eligible for funding. For each child, the limit should be increased by 10,000 euros.
