Amazon Takes First Steps for Satellite Internet

Amazon is officially starting to compete with SpaceX’s satellite internet project Starlink. With multibillion-dollar deals signed last April, Amazon will send thousands of satellites into Earth orbit.

It seems that although Jeff Bezos has resigned from the CEO of Amazon, the rivalry between Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk is not over and is moving to a higher point. Amazon has a project to provide internet to people from space using small satellites orbiting the Earth, and it’s called Project Kuiper. In this long-running project, the expected permissions were finally obtained in the past months, and then agreements were started to be made.

In April, Amazon agreed to launch Kuiper satellites with three different rockets. a multi-billion dollar contract (Largest rocket deal in commercial space industry history) signed: Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket, the United States’ United Launch Alliance rocket, and Europe’s Arianespace rocket. Amazon first announced Project Kuiper back in 2019, but the company’s announcement last month gave new impetus to the event. This move by Amazon, and Elon Musk’s SpaceX Clearly a challenge to the Starlink network.

Amazon plans to send 3,236 microsatellites into space

SpaceX’s Starlink project already has about 2,000 satellites in orbit, with a total Serving 250,000 subscribers and the Federal Communications Commission, SpaceX’s total Allows 12,000 satellite launches. Even though Amazon hasn’t launched a single satellite yet, it can still play a big role in the market, as the company initially worked in Project Kuiper. It plans to launch 3,236 microsatellites into Earth orbit.

Even though Amazon first announced and launched ‘Project Kuiper’ in 2019, the real event started last month. Amazon in April 2022 signed a multi-billion dollar contract but unfortunately they did not give any further details about the project, such as when it will be launched.
