Amazon cuts support for security camera Cloud Cam

While we often see Google deprecate its various products and services, Amazon has been taking similar steps lately. The US-based retail giant closed Alexa.com, which provides information about the number of visitors and traffic sources of its websites, on May 1.

Now, it has been announced that support will end for Cloud Cam, a security camera designed for indoor use. Amazon in an e-mail sent to users Cloud Cam and all associated utilities from December 2, 2022 announced that it is no longer available.

Amazon will not victimize Cloud Cam customers

Cloud Cam users, until December 2, will be able to download previously recorded videos. After this date, it will remove all videos. In addition, the company offers customers already using the product, designed for indoor use. Blink Mini security camera and 1 year Blink Plus subscription will gift.

There was also a statement from the authorities on the subject. Amazon shared the following information, saying it will now focus on developing other smart home technologies, including Ring and Blink:

“Starting December 2, 2022, customers will no longer be able to use Amazon Cloud Cam and Amazon Cloud Cam Key Edition. Those still actively using Cloud Cam will be eligible for a Blink Mini and a 1-year Blink Subscription Plan. Those still using Cloud Cam Key Edition will also be eligible to receive Echo (4th Gen).

We will continue to provide innovative smart home security solutions to our customers with Amazon’s Ring and Blink brands.”

It is not yet clear how many Blink Minis will be given to those who own more than one Cloud Cam. Most of Amazon’s services other than Prime are not officially available in Turkey. For example, the artificial intelligence voice assistant Alexa still does not have Turkish language support. On the other hand, it is planned to release special content for Turkey in 2023 for Netflix rival Prime Video.
