Apple Watch watches are among the most preferred products in the market. However, a recent claim seems to annoy Apple. A class action lawsuit against Apple reveals that the Apple Watch’s blood oxygen sensor does not work effectively in people with dark skin tones.
According to the lawsuit, such devices have long had trouble measuring blood oxygen levels based on skin color. This is believed to be part of racism in many areas of society.

Plaintiff Alex Morales filed the lawsuit on behalf of all Apple Watch owners in New York on December 24. The lawsuit also accuses Apple of violating the express warranty, fraud and unjust enrichment, alleging that it violates the New York General Business Act and State Consumer Fraud Laws.
This case isn’t the first complaint Apple has faced over physical differences. In 2015, users with black tattoos on their wrists complained that the heart sensor was not working properly. Apple accepted the situation after the complaints.
Stating that the color, pattern and saturation of some tattoos can affect the light of the sensor, Apple stated that for this reason, the sensor may have trouble reading the data. Apple is now experiencing a similar problem with the sensor for measuring the oxygen level in the blood, which it offers in smartwatch models in 2020.
