3Commas CEO Confirms API Key Leak After CZ’s Warning

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) warned his 8 million Twitter followers on Dec.

The statement by CZ comes after an incident on December 9 where Binance canceled the account of a user who complained that he had lost money the day before.

The user in question claimed that a leaked API key affiliated with the company was used “to trade low-value coins to raise the price for profit.”

Binance refused to refund the user. CZ tweeted that the loss was unverifiable and that if the company recouped such losses, “we will only be paying users to lose their API keys.”

On December 11, 3Commas CEO Yuriy Sorokin claimed on his company blog, Twitter and YouTube that fake screenshots were circulating claiming that the company had poor security and showed employees stealing API keys.

Sorokin denied the allegations in an in-depth technical analysis of the images.

Security issues at the company first surfaced in late October. At the time, the still functional FTX exchange had issued a security alert in response to reports from users of unauthorized trading pairs with DMG coin on FTX.

Now Sorokin has confirmed the leak and added that there is no evidence that the leak was an inside job.
