Xiaomi is shutting down its cloud storage system!

Xiaomi offered its users 5 GB of free cloud storage called Gallery Sync where they could store photos and videos. However, it seems that the Chinese manufacturer will not continue to offer this service. Although no official statement has been made from the company yet, some developers have stated that Xiaomi will announce that it will close the cloud storage system soon.

If you haven’t heard of this service before, you don’t have to worry. Because you do not use this service, your files are also safe. For those using this feature, Xiaomi seems to have found a way to transfer your photos and videos to Google Photos.

Xiaomi 13’s design has been leaked!

The features and design of the Xiaomi 13 series are shaped by leaks. Images of the back panel of the device have also appeared.

For those who do not want to use Xiaomi’s Gallery Sync system and transfer their files to Google Photos, we expect an internal storage option to be offered. In Gallery Sync, it is also possible to have more storage space by paying a subscription fee. The Chinese manufacturer is expected to cancel all subscriptions and issue full refunds. The low-resolution image below shows how these steps will be.

It is not yet clear when Gallery Sync will be closed. However, the cancellation of the cloud service in 2022 will not be a surprise. It is worth remembering that the Xiaomi Cloud service, which allows synchronizing and backing up contacts, messages and notes, will continue.

After the official announcement, users will have to download or transfer their data shortly. It looks like Xiaomi will only keep the data for 2023 and then delete these files.

The announcement, which appeared and was later deleted, included the following statements:

“We help you download Gallery Sync data stored in Xiaomi Cloud to your personal device. Data download will only be available until XX, XX, 2023, after which this feature will no longer be supported.”

On the other hand, there are also claims that Gallery Sync will continue to be used only in China. However, it is worth remembering that just like the cancellation date of the cloud service, this claim also needs confirmation.
