Last March, Huawei sued Xiaomi for infringing its patents. Huawei, which sued Xiaomi for the unauthorized use of camera, 4G and unlocking technologies, now seems to be dealing with a counter lawsuit.
Xiaomi filed four different lawsuits against Huawei!
Xiaomi has filed a request for the invalidation of four Huawei patents. Following the application, the two companies are expected to go to trial on July 21. According to the information obtained, Xiaomi requests the invalidation of Huawei’s ZL201810188201.7 patent.
The announcement by China National Intellectual Property Administration states that this patent is on the screen lock method and mobile terminal dispute. Accordingly, Xiaomi argues that Huawei’s patent for the lock screen should be invalid.

The aforementioned patent covers the projection of the last photo on the phone to the screen when the phone screen is locked and the screen is activated. The patent also hosts a system that automatically changes photos on the lock screen. If Xiaomi wins the case, Huawei will pay Xiaomi a patent fee to use this feature.
The other three lawsuits Xiaomi has filed against Huawei are as follows:
- Patent No. ZL201110269715.3, patent title “Method and device for sending control signal”;
- Patent No. ZL201010137731.2, patent title “Method for Feedback of ACK/NACK Information During Carrier Acquisition, Base Station, and User Equipment”;
- Patent No. ZL201380073251.6, patent title “A method and terminal for acquiring panoramic images”
Huawei has been having a hard time in the smartphone market recently due to problems with Google and the USA. This patent case from Xiaomi may put the Chinese manufacturer in a little more trouble.
