Berlin Sebastian Fiedler (48) is chief detective and one of the new interior experts in the SPD parliamentary group. Before the election he was chairman of the Bund Deutscher Kriminalbeamter.

Mr. Fiedler, the Federal Government’s Expert Council warns of “high risks” for the police in view of the approaching Omikron wave. Is Germany threatened with the loss of thousands of police officers?
I am not an epidemiologist, but the forecasts and scenarios of the Expert Council seem extremely plausible and serious to me. In this respect: yes, apparently we have to seriously think about the fact that an emergency will arise.
