With the iPhone Messages application, the SMS age begins again!

Many new features are waiting for Apple users with iOS 17. Some of these features include the Messages app. But wait a second! If you say “Who uses the Messages application, we are on WhatsApp”, you are wrong because iPhone users will return to the “SMS” age among themselves, thanks to these features. Here are the details…

New iOS 17 “Messages” app features that will encourage you to use SMS!

1- A simpler and more understandable design

Apple has completely updated the design of the Messages app to reduce clutter. Now the “+” button on the left side of the compose window houses all Messages apps and tools. In ‌iOS 16‌, Apple had a tapable camera icon and an App Store icon to expand the options available. Apps have expanded horizontally to the top of the keyboard, so a cleaner vertical design was a useful change. In this way, it offers users a much more simplified design.

2- Check-In

Check In is a security feature that you can use to let someone else monitor your progress while traveling. You can let a friend or family member know that you are going somewhere and the system will automatically notify them when you reach your destination. To use Check In, you need to tap the “+” button and select Check In. From there, you can enter your destination and the time you set to arrive. Then the system automatically starts transferring information.

3- Stickers

Stickers have been in the Messages app for years, but they haven’t received much attention. Apple is changing this in ‌iOS 17‌, as all emojis are now considered stickers in addition to actual stickers. Emojis now behave the same as stickers, so in addition to adding them to a conversation, you can drag them anywhere in a message and overlap them to create little emoji scenes.

4- Creating your own sticker

Apple introduced the option to Remove an Object from Background in “iOS 16”. You can use this feature to create and save your own stickers in “iOS 17”. Select any of your photos and long press the subject of the photo to get to the “Add Stickers” option. Select it and it will be added directly to your sticker collection and if it is a “Live Photo” your sticker will also move.

5- Gossip catch-up feature!

If you fall behind in a Messages chat with a friend or a group of people, “iOS 17” will show you a capture arrow. If you tap it, it will jump to the first message in the conversation that you didn’t see.

6- Voice Message Transcripts

If someone sends you an audio message and you’re in a place where you can’t listen to it right away, ‌iOS 17‌ transcribes the message for you so you can read it instead.
