Microsoft has been making innovations to improve the widget panel for a while. For example. It has partnered with Facebook and Spotify, allowing third-party developers to develop widgets as well. Now it is reported that it is working on a widget support reminiscent of Desktop Gadgets in Windows 7.
A new update to Windows 11 will bring widgets to the desktop. Users will be allowed to pin widgets directly to the home screen. This will take the widget experience to the next level.

The new move will bring the Windows Desktop Gadgets feature from Windows 7 to Windows 11. Microsoft will allow users to place these items anywhere on the desktop. Thus, it will offer more flexibility.
It is unclear when this feature will be available to users. However, it is known that Microsoft will hold a special session on Windows widgets at Build 2023, which will take place on May 23. However, it should be noted that this feature is not finalized.
