Windows 10 and 11 update breaks VPNs

Versions KB5036893, KB5036894 and KB5036892, which were distributed as the April 2024 update, caused some problems in Windows. It was stated that it was not possible to connect to VPN on Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server devices.

In a forum complaint filed on the subject, Microsoft admitted that “VPN connections may fail after installing the April 2024 security update.” The company stated that it is investigating the problem and that the fix will be available soon.

Microsoft’s efforts to popularize Windows 11 are not receiving the expected attention. So why don’t users want to buy Windows 11?

Users started trying various solutions after the update. Some Windows 11 users reported that VPN connection was restored after reinstalling VPN applications. The most effective solution seems to be rolling back the April 2024 Windows update.

April updates can be removed on the Windows 11 or 10 operating system via Settings > Windows Update > Update History. However, by removing the update, you will again allow the vulnerabilities that Microsoft fixed in April.

On the other hand, Windows 10 dominance continues in the market. The operating system’s market share reached 70 percent by April, clearly showing that users prefer the old over the new. According to the latest data from StatCounter, Windows 11’s market share dropped from 28 percent to 25 percent in a few months.
