Berlin The traffic light coalition has set itself a clear goal: by 2030, at least 15 million electric cars should be on German roads. According to the coalition agreement, the government wants to support the automotive industry on the way to climate-neutral mobility. Germany should become a lead market for e-mobility.

But the car manufacturers are currently getting into a crisis, as Volkswagen is showing these days. In view of the slump in sales, the car manufacturer has sworn its executives to implement tough austerity measures.

And the 15 million target is also a long way off: Industry insiders report that orders have fallen significantly since the end of 2022.
