The Russian war of aggression in Ukraine has now lasted almost seven months. Despite the remarkable gains in territory made by Ukraine in recent weeks, there is no end in sight to the hostilities: Russia still has a wide range of political and military – including nuclear – options and reserves. Ukraine has only been able to reconquer a small part of the areas occupied by Russia in the east and south of the country.

In Kyiv, people are saying that the next 90 days are crucial. But what if the war drags on well into the next year?
