Berlin There are increasing signs that a large-scale Russian offensive is about to begin in eastern Ukraine. According to the government in Kiev, the biggest advance since the beginning of the war is even imminent. To this end, Moscow’s troops are to attack dozens of positions along the more than 200-kilometer Donbass front between Kreminna and Wuhledar, reports the Ukrainian military.
The center of this front is currently still the town of Bakhmut. Experts agree: If the Russians don’t succeed in taking them, the plan to take the entire Donbass will fail. According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russian President Vladimir Putin has given his generals until February 24, the anniversary of the invasion, to begin conquering the territory in eastern Ukraine.
