Where the prices on the Baltic Sea are falling

The construction noise, which has been annoying bathing holidaymakers on the Baltic Sea beach of Scharbeutz for weeks, is not coming from a property on which a new holiday property is being built, but from the water: the new pier is being built right next to the Bayside Hotel. The dull “bang, bang, bang” comes from ramming the piles into the seabed. Despite the summer weather that has prevailed for weeks, there is no holiday mood.

Timmendorf – five kilometers south of Scharbeutz – is also getting a new, 427-metre-long futuristic circular route across the sea. But the craftsmen have a summer break here. Construction will only continue after the peak season. The conversations in the beach cafés and restaurants about the two major projects in the Bay of Lübeck are increasingly being replaced these days by discussions about the real estate prices on the Baltic Sea, which have been falling for the first time in years.
