Stockholm A little cottage by the lake. Peace, solitude, nature. And at a manageable price. Who doesn’t dream of it? In Sweden, the longing can be fulfilled – at least partially.

More than 5000 holiday homes are currently for sale across the country. For example, there is a small log house in the north of the country, two rooms, 1500 square meters of land right on a lake. The starting price is 195,000 kroner (16,500 euros).

It should be noted that some holiday homes are on a property that is only leased (arrendet). This does not have to be a disadvantage, since the leasehold is often only a few hundred crowns a year. The cheapest properties are mostly small, in need of renovation and not winterproof, with a floor space of about 30 to 40 square meters. Often these very cheap houses have no running water and only a dry toilet.
