With Russia’s attack on Ukraine, security and defense policy issues have become generational issues. Planned for a long time, but now more urgent than ever, NATO is revising its security strategy. The new “Strategic Concept” was adopted at the summit in Madrid. The requirements and expectations of the alliance partners will change significantly as a result.

  • What expectations does NATO have of Germany and the Bundeswehr? Is the “turning point” now even more urgent?
  • Can the Bundeswehr meet the requirements? What additional skills need to be developed?
  • How does the German economy view the NATO decisions? Does a strong economy need a strong security apparatus and strong armed forces? What are the security policy “desires” of the economy?
