Brussels, Berlin, Riga Russian troops have been charging at Ukrainian positions for most of the winter. They bought small gains in territory with high losses. Now the Ukrainians want to launch a counterattack and take advantage of the increasing exhaustion of the Russian attackers. Videos from online networks have been circulating for weeks that are supposed to show soldiers and heavy war equipment on the way to the front.

For the first time, the Ukrainian army has Western battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles at its disposal. According to NATO, 230 tanks and 1,550 lighter combat vehicles have now arrived in Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is certain: “This will put Ukraine in a strong position to continue the reconquest of the occupied territories.”
