What happens if Putin turns off the gas?

Berlin The 59 pages of the “Gas Crisis Prevention” guide tell you what happens when there is a shortage of natural gas. It specifies the provisions of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) and the “Gas Emergency Plan” of the Federal Ministry of Economics.

In the paper, the gas industry associations describe how to proceed if the gas quantities are no longer sufficient to supply all customers as desired. In such a “superordinate national gas shortage” a cascade of shutdowns takes effect, described in the chapter “Procedures in crisis situations”.

Before the emergency plan takes effect, however, all market-related measures must first be exhausted. This means, for example, contractual regulations on shutdowns. For example, there are corporate customers who have agreed supply interruptions with their gas supplier under certain conditions. You can be rewarded for the interruption of the delivery. But the potential of such shutdowns is limited.
