Rescue operation in downtown Weiden! There is a suspicion that several guests of a restaurant drank from a poisoned drink. Those affected show massive symptoms of poisoning, the police said.
So bad that a man (52) from Schwandorf died on Sunday night. Eight other restaurant guests are in hospitals around Regensburg, some seriously injured.

► At 12:30 a.m., the police operations center in Regensburg received a phone call that several people between the ages of 33 and 52 had experienced serious health problems while visiting a restaurant in downtown Weiden.
When the police and emergency services arrived at the restaurant on Unteren Markt, some of the injured guests were lying on the floor, according to the police report.

According to the current state of knowledge, the group of guests drank together from a bottle that they ordered in the restaurant. The Weiden Criminal Police Inspectorate has set up the “Market” special commission to investigate the events.
