Dusseldorf The Ukraine crisis and disappointing quarterly figures pushed Wall Street into the red at the start on Thursday. Shortly before trading began, it became known that Russia had expelled Deputy US Ambassador Bartle Gorman. As previously in Europe, reports of fighting in eastern Ukraine weighed on investor sentiment.
The Dow Jones index of standard values slipped by almost 500 points or 1.4 percent to 34,595 points. The broader S&P 500 fell 1.4 percent and the Nasdaq index lost 1.6 percent.
