Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles introduced the new Multivan, a rechargeable hybrid engine model. The new commercial vehicle, which is one of the first building blocks of the brand’s electromobility strategy, will soon show itself on the roads of Turkey.

Reflecting Volkswagen’s new philosophy both in its exterior design and interior, the commercial vehicle wants to reach a significant market share with the features it offers. Representing the beginning of a new era for the German brand, Multivan will play an important role in the adaptation of electric power units and autonomous driving technology to Transporter models.
The new Volkswagen Multivan will go on sale in Turkey in July with the 1.4 TSI eHybrid engine with 218 horsepower. The new Multivan eHybrid, which has a rechargeable hybrid engine, will work with electric power and will enable especially short trips to turn into emission-free driving.

Thanks to the 13 kWh lithium-ion battery, the new Multivan can be used for daily distances with purely electric power. The TSI engine, on the other hand, activates at speeds above 130 km/h, providing additional power to the vehicle. It is possible to charge the model, which has a net battery capacity of 10.4 kWh, in 3 hours and 40 minutes with 3.6 kW AC charging. If the vehicle’s battery is properly charged, it will be able to be used entirely on electricity in the city at a range of approximately 50 km.
The new Multivan has two different driving options, E-mode and Hybrid mode. In E-mode, power is delivered to the front wheels by an electric motor powered by a high-voltage (HV) battery. In Hybrid driving mode, which is a combination of both electric and internal combustion engine, the driver can select the current charge level, reserve charge and increase or decrease the charge level of the high voltage (HV) battery.
In addition to its hybrid power unit, the new Multivan also stands out with its driving support systems. With the help of its driver assistance systems, the vehicle managed to get 5 Stars in Euro NCAP tests and achieved the best scores in terms of protection of adult passengers, safety of children and accident prevention.
