Hamburg, Frankfort The British telecommunications group Vodafone is founding a joint venture with the French Altice Group for fiber optic expansion in Germany. The new company will be valued at seven billion euros, Vodafone announced on Monday.

The company plans to roll out seven million additional fiber lines: 80 percent in areas where Vodafone already has a presence. This means, for example, housing associations that Vodafone currently supplies with its cable network. The remaining 1.4 million connections are to be created in regions where the group has not yet had its own network.
