Frankfurt am Main The potency pill Viagra and its imitation products could soon be available in Germany without a doctor’s prescription – at least in a low dosage of 25 milligrams. A committee of experts at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) will decide on this on July 11th. This emerges from the published agenda on the institute’s website.
The distinctive blue Viagra tablet was launched 25 years ago by the US pharmaceutical company Pfizer. It was the first oral product for erectile dysfunction and became known worldwide shortly after approval. At its peak, the drug brought in more than $2 billion in annual sales.
