Update to Windows 11’s Snipping Tool

Microsoft has finally released an update that fixes the vulnerability of the Snipping Tool in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

It turned out that the Acropalypse vulnerability, which was reported to affect Google Pixel’s Markup Tool a few days ago, is also found in Microsoft’s Windows 10 and Windows 11 Snipping Tool.

These tools allow the clipped features to retain the data of the removed portions, rather than completely removing them after overwriting the original file. This poses serious problems, especially when tools affected by Acropalypse are used to crop sensitive images.

Microsoft fixes this issue with a new update

Microsoft, CVE-2023-28303 (Windows Snipping Tool Information Reveal Vulnerability) called of Acropalypsestated that it is a low severity vulnerability due to certain conditions that must be met.

You can fix the problem yourself by checking for security updates in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
