Frankfurt The surprise was great. On October 26th, Deutsche Börse announced that Deutsche Wohnen will drop out of the Dax on October 29th. The reason: The minimum free float fell below ten percent because of the takeover by Vonovia. This means that Deutsche Wohnen no longer fulfills the basic criterion for being listed in any index on the stock exchange.
There were no more detailed explanations, not even when asked by the Handelsblatt. The consumer goods group Beiersdorf moved into the Dax for Deutsche Wohnen. However, Deutsche Wohnen now appears again on the October ranking list for possible index members of Deutsche Börse or its index subsidiary Qontigo. And even on a prominent place as a candidate for promotion in the MDax of the 50 largest German small caps.
The stock exchange will review the composition of the Dax family indices on December 3rd. As of now, Deutsche Wohnen would replace the automotive supplier Hella in the MDax.
