According to a report by PeckShield, some “white hat” hackers protecting funds on behalf of Nomad during Monday’s $190 million attack returned the funds to a wallet address belonging to Nomad.
Some Hackers Attacking Nomad Returns $9 Million Stolen
Nomad released a wallet address Wednesday for the recovery of stolen funds. Data from Etherscan shows that around $9 million worth of crypto tokens received during the hack were returned. $3:75 million in crypto tokens returned so far Usd Coin (USDC), $2 million Tether (USDT), $1.4 million Covalent Query Token (CQT) and $1.2 million Frax (FRAX) is located.
Most of these funds came from famous Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain wallet addresses. These people are among the 300 wallets participating in the event. Unlike hackers, these white hats took action to secure Nomad funds during the heist. Some have promised to return the funds when Nomad provides a recovery wallet.
White hat or ethical hackers often use their hacking skills to detect vulnerabilities in the digital realm.
Nomad stated that it is working with law enforcement and Blockchain forensics firms to track down the hackers responsible for the heist.
