Authorities in Ukraine seized the assets of some over-the-counter (OTC) platform processors serving cryptocurrency users in Russia.
According to the statement made by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, users in Russia and regions currently under Russian occupation can use these platforms to “cash and non-cash funds to crypto without tax” was transforming.
In the statement of the Attorney General’s Office, there was no information about the time period in which these transactions took place.
Authorities owned by these brokers 850 thousand euros, 470 thousand dollars and 450 thousand Ukrainian hryvnia confiscated.
In addition, 830 kilos of silver, six plots of land and three flats were confiscated. In the statement, all of these assets acquired through illegal crypto transactions specified. All assets worth approximately $3.39 million were transferred to a government agency in Ukraine.
Law enforcement in Ukraine carried out a similar operation last year and seized the money of some crypto OTC platforms serving users in Russia.
