TURKSTAT Shared Turkey’s Death Statistics

TurkStat shared the death statistics for 2022. How many people died in total and the most common causes of death were also announced.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) published the death statistics for 2022 after the years 2020 and 2021. The total number of deaths, which was 566,485 last year, will increase in 2022. It fell to 504,839.

Those who died in the last year 54.6% men, 45.4% women created. Crude death rate, which refers to the number of deaths per thousand people, 5.9 was determined as. The provinces with the highest crude death rate were also announced.

The most common causes of death in Turkey:

  • Circulatory system diseases – 35.4%
  • Benign and malignant tumors – 15.2%
  • Respiratory system diseases – 13.5%
  • Diseases related to endocrine gland, nutrition, metabolism – 4.5%
  • COVID-19 – 4.4
  • Nervous system and sensory organs diseases – 3.6%
  • External causes of injury and poisoning – 3.3%
  • Other – 13%
  • Unknown – 7.1%

The most common cause of death in circulatory system diseases is the disease with a rate of 42.3%. ischemic heart diseases it happened. This was followed by other heart diseases with 23.5%, cerebro-vascular diseases with 19.2%, hypertensive diseases with 9.9% and other diseases with 5%.

  • Under-five mortality rate: 10.6
