TURKSTAT Announces May Inflation Rate

The inflation rate for May was announced by TUIK at 10:00 today. The increase in inflation in the last month was shared as 2.98%.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced today the highly anticipated inflation rates for the month of May. Inflation, which broke the record of decades again last month, unfortunately continued to increase this month, contrary to expectations at the beginning of the year.

According to TUIK data, the month of April monthly consumer inflation 2.98% took place as If annual inflation is to 73.50% reached. The domestic producer price index 8.76% on a monthly basis increased by 132.16% on an annual basis.

This month’s record holder was alcoholic beverages and tobacco:

According to the data shared by TURKSTAT, the spending group with the highest increase in prices in Aprilalcoholic beverages and tobacco‘ happened. Accordingly, the prices of this group increased by 6.53% in one month. The group that followed alcoholic beverages and tobacco was entertainment and culture, followed by restaurants and hotels.

On an annual basis, the highest increase was seen in transportation as of May. The transportation group saw an annual increase of 107.62%. The group following transportation was food with 91.63% and household goods with 82.08%.
