Tug-of-war over oligarch superyacht in the South Pacific

Lautoka The “Amadea” is a real dream ship, almost like its namesake from the ZDF series: helicopter landing pad, ten-meter pool, jacuzzi, wellness area, a cinema and a hand-painted piano – this is how “Boat International” describes the 2016 of the Super yacht completed at the Lürssen-Kröger shipyard in Schleswig-Holstein.

The features of the 106 meter long piece of jewelery costing around 300 million euros are well known – it is unclear who owns it. In the course of the Ukraine war, this question is causing an international tug-of-war that stretches from Moscow via Washington to the South Seas.

The luxury yacht has been stranded in the unluxurious container port of Lautoka in Fiji since mid-April after an 18-day voyage from Mexico across the Pacific because of unclear ownership. The US is convinced that billionaire Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov is the owner.
