Traffic light attack by Lindner: “If the Union wants lockdowns for people who have been vaccinated, it has to say it” – Domestic politics

The criticism of the Corona plans of the traffic light parties is getting louder. Politicians from the CDU and CSU criticize the expiry of the “epidemic emergency”. They accuse the SPD, the Greens SPD, of having no or too lax plan for the winter and repeatedly play with hints of a new lockdown in order to get the situation under control.

FDP boss Christian Lindner (42) is fed up with the constant shouting of the Union – and is blowing the (liberal) counterattack of the traffic lights!

“If the Union wants to impose blanket lockdowns that would also affect vaccinated people with a booster and perhaps a supplementary test, it would have to clearly state this,” Lindner told BILD.

In any case, the FDP considers lockdowns for vaccinated persons as well as exit restrictions to be “disproportionate”. Other measures are more effective and “the additional protection would only be achieved at the highest social cost. From the discussion, for example, about 2G rules and contact limits, I expect more benefits, ”the FDP boss continued.

One is open to “all sensible suggestions” and ready to “examine them and, if necessary, incorporate them into the law”, said Lindner.

At the Union, however, the FDP boss currently senses party political motives.

“Pandemic the wrong field to start the opposition role”

In view of the tense corona situation, Lindner does not allow this to apply.

Lindner to BILD: “The dramatic development of the pandemic is the wrong field for the CDU, as the party of the executive federal government, to take on the role of the opposition. In the phase of an ongoing change of government, the traffic light parties and the Union have a joint responsibility to avert a loss of control. “

Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), for example, had agreed with the traffic light parties that they would have a “winter package”. Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) criticized the end of the “epidemic situation of national importance”, as did CDU parliamentary deputy Thorsten Frei. Still-Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (41, CDU) called the plans of the traffic light parties “quite brave”.

And even the Chancellor spoke up via video podcast and demanded a new alarm value for the federal-state summit on Thursday, from which “additional steps to contain the pandemic beyond the previously applicable measures are binding in each case, depending on the regional infection situation must be initiated, ”said Merkel.

She did not explain whether that could mean lockdown for everyone …
