They Tortured To Seize Crypto Coins!

An interesting thing happened in Hong Kong last week. According to local media reports, a cryptocurrency trader has been kidnapped by the gang.

Police have arrested 7 people in connection with the kidnapping, in which a ransom of HK$30 million (approximately $3,850,260) was demanded for the 39-year-old crypto trader.

The crypto trader met on November 6 to sell a digital currency to a foreign person. The buyer brought the crypto trader to an industrial building. The victim was beaten and kidnapped by the gang members waiting for him there.

Gang members tortured the man, demanding that he give them the passwords to his bank and cryptocurrency accounts. Afterwards, the crypto trader continued to be tortured by being taken to a remote location. In order to get the ransom they wanted, the gang members asked the victim to tell his family that he owed money.

After the victim’s family filed a police complaint about the incident on 9 November, the police successfully located the trader and rescued the man.

The rescued man was treated at the hospital for fractures and injuries sustained in his body as a result of the torture he suffered for a week.

Senior Deputy Inspector Alan Chung, in his statement at the meeting, said that a total of seven people, aged between 25 and 32, were arrested in connection with the kidnapping, and at least seven or eight more were sought.

While this is the first case of looting involving cryptocurrencies in Hong Kong, police have opened 496 investigations of cryptocurrency theft in Hong Kong this year.
