These processors will support Windows 11 again

Microsoft took a step that will raise questions and changed the list of processors that support Windows 11. The company, which removed support for 24 Intel processors last August, brought back support for these processors without any explanation.

Windows 11 good news for 24 Intel models

Last summer, Microsoft quietly cut off Windows 11 support for some Intel Xeon models. In particular, the discontinuation of support for popular 8th generation Xeon E CPUs such as Xeon E-2136, E-2226G and E-2356G was a matter of curiosity.

What made the situation even weirder was that Microsoft did not cut support for 8th generation Intel Core processors. So, even though they basically share the same architecture, it was announced that the Xeon series will not support Windows 11.

NVIDIA GeForce 545.92 driver has been released. Thus, two games started to be supported. Here are the update notes…

Support for 8th generation Xeon processors was reintroduced with the Windows 11 update in October. This means that official support is offered again after a few months. All 24 previously removed models, from Xeon E-2104G to E-2388G, are once again compatible with Windows 11.

  • Intel Xeon E-2104G
  • Intel Xeon E-2134
  • Intel Xeon E-2136
  • Intel Xeon E-2144G
  • Intel Xeon E-2146G
  • Intel Xeon E-2174G
  • Intel Xeon E-2176G
  • Intel Xeon E-2176M
  • Intel Xeon E-2274G
  • Intel Xeon E-2276G
  • Intel Xeon E-2276M
  • Intel Xeon E-2278G
  • Intel Xeon E-2378G

However, Microsoft did not comment on what led to this brief change or why it was reverted. It is thought that Xeon CPUs were removed due to a technical glitch and this bug was resolved as of October.
