Dusseldorf Work-life balance has made progress: there are more men on the street who push prams, stay at home for at least a few months after the birth and also do more housework. But all too often, raising children is still the responsibility of women. Although there are more childcare places, there are still too few. As a result, many women work part-time and earn significantly less than their partners over the course of their lives.
Women with children are still at enormous financial disadvantages, often earning only a third of what a comparable man brings home over the course of their working lives.
