The Templeton Growth Fund: Comeback after Decline?

Frankfurt It was once the figurehead of the large US money manager Franklin Templeton Investments: the “Templeton Growth Fund”. In the current year, the international equity fund, which invests around seven billion euros, has so far made a loss of 12.3 percent. According to the provider, German investors are invested with a total of over seven billion euros in this strategy, which also includes an identical fund under US law.

Fund manager Peter Moeschter sees the current loss of 12.3 percent as rather positive: “The numbers are slowly getting better; this year we have delivered a result similar to that of the market index.” To understand the assessment despite an absolute loss, you have to go far know the worse past of the fund, which has long enjoyed iconic status among asset managers and investors. But the stock market crash in 2008 ended the success story.
