The state has to correct its own mistakes on the electricity market

Coincidence – half a year ago this term would at best have been suspected in the party program of the left. It has been part of the public debate since the weekend, and soon the state will actually skim off such chance profits. The federal government once again feels compelled to intervene in the electricity market – this time also to correct past mistakes.

According to its own statements, the government is concerned with tapping off excessive proceeds in order to ultimately give them back to the end consumer.

The concept is supported by all parties in the traffic light coalition, by the Greens, by the SPD and even by the economically liberal FDP. While avoiding the term “excess gain,” it ultimately boils down to the same thing: unprecedented market intervention.

So is this breaking a taboo? no For one simple reason: the energy market is a special case.
