Berlin The federal states want to remain open to raising the price for the nationwide valid 49-euro ticket in local and regional transport in the coming year. This emerges from an amendment by the federal states to the federal draft law. Accordingly, the federal states are demanding that the passage be inserted into the law: “The price is fixed annually in coordination with the federal and state governments.” The application is available to the Handelsblatt.

The federal states justify their demand with the fact that the federal and state governments agreed at the Prime Ministers’ Conference in December to introduce a “Germany ticket” in 2023 as a successor tariff to the federal government’s nine-euro ticket from the summer. The new name was deliberately chosen so as not to be permanently tied to the introductory price of 49 euros.
