Ministry of Interior: Countdown has begun for Domestic e-Passport

According to the news of CNN Turk, e-Passports, which were previously produced by a company in Europe, will be domestic from now on. Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said that as a result of the company’s difficulties in meeting the supply due to the ongoing chip crisis, they started working for the domestic e-Passport and they are at the final stage in mass production.

It was stated that the e-Passport, which will contain images of different cities on each page, will be the safest passport in the world. Apart from that, it will have a contactless chip and many innovations and an original design. In addition, the validity period of the green passport, which was 5 years before, will increase to 10 years with the domestic e-Passport. It should be noted that it will start to be used in August.

The Minister of Interior said that they have been giving a new generation driver’s license since 2016, and it has become a necessity to adapt it with new technologies in the world. At this point, the new e-Driver’s License, which uses a contactless chip and whose security level has been increased to the highest level, will be open to international circulation and will also offer the possibility of identification. At the same time, as in e-Passport, the expressions Turkey will be used instead of Turkey.

Finally, the Ministry of Interior announced the new e-Blue Card to make the blue card used by citizens in Germany who have to renounce Turkish citizenship more secure. In this context, work is being done on a more secure new e-Blue Card, which contains biometric data instead of the old-fashioned card.
