Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin shared some details about the curriculum to be published next week. Tekin announced that important steps will be taken towards basic education. More importance will now be given to Turkish lessons.

Turkish passing score will increase to 70 points

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin made a statement on many important issues, from teacher appointments to open high school exams, in a television program he attended. The most striking of these was the obligation imposed on Turkish lessons. According to the statement, the Turkish passing grade will be 70.

The Minister expressed the decision with the following words:

Certain courses need to be above average. In our basic education regulation, we made it mandatory to get a 70 in Turkish. We have not published the regulation yet. It will be out next week. Those who cannot achieve an average of 70 will not pass.

On the other hand, important decisions regarding open high schools have been taken recently. As a result of the decisions taken, the registration conditions have changed. The Minister stated that immediately after this, the number of students enrolled in open high schools decreased significantly. Tekin also made the following statements about teacher appointments:

My desire, my wish, was this. If the figures become clear before the budget law is passed, we will start the appointment process. I thought we would start our friends as the new academic year begins in 3 months, and I explained this. We will share this with the relevant ministers.
