Education was suspended until 1 March in 10 provinces affected by the earthquake.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced new decisions regarding education and training plans. Özer announced that education was suspended in 10 provinces affected by the earthquake until 1 March. He also said that in the other 71 provinces, schools will start on February 20 and there will be no new extensions.

Özer had previously said that there would be no continuation requirement at all levels in the earthquake zones in the 2nd period. After the earthquake, the Minister announced that students (parents) living in the region can be transferred to schools in the provinces of their choice, if they wish.
