Lawrence Sullivan, known as the Florida Joker, took his complaint with Rockstar Games to the next level by threatening to take legal action against the game developer unless compensation is paid for his likeness, which he thinks was used without permission in the GTA 6 trailer.

GTA 6, whose trailer was released at the beginning of the month, takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, where Rockstar represents Florida. Fans immediately noticed real-life references in the first trailer, including what appeared to be a nod to Sullivan, who turned heads online in 2017 after his mugshot went viral, earning him the nickname “Florida Joker” for his distinctive green hair and facial tattoos.
Although the GTA 6 version of the character has some differences, such as purple hair and modified facial tattoos, the similarities are obvious. In response, Sullivan claimed that he had a likeness in a TikTok video and demanded millions of dollars in compensation from Rockstar Games, where he claimed that his likeness was used without permission.

In her latest TikTok post, Sullivan, who dyed her hair purple to be more compatible with her GTA 6 character, says that she has provided Rockstar with significant free marketing and expects money in return. Claiming that he had “solid evidence” to support his case, he gave the game developer a three-day grace period before threatening legal action.

In particular, this situation bears some resemblance to a past legal dispute involving Lindsay Lohan, who filed a lawsuit against Take-Two in 2013, claiming that her likeness was used without permission for a character in GTA 5. However, Lohan’s case was ultimately dismissed.
Sullivan argues that her situation is different from Lohan’s and highlights the unique aspects of her case. Despite its bold claims on TikTok, legal experts suggest that obtaining compensation from Rockstar Games could be an uphill endeavor.
