Dusseldorf Omikron is spreading very quickly. In Germany, the highly contagious coronavirus variant was confirmed in five federal states as of Wednesday. In addition, there are tens of thousands of new infections with the dominant delta variant.
The federal and state governments have therefore announced the next conference of prime ministers for Thursday, at which stricter measures and perhaps even a general vaccination requirement can be expected. But what does the appearance of the new Omikron variant in this fourth wave mean for employees and their job opportunities? The overview.
Labor market and job opportunities
The job market is currently booming. The number of job postings has recently exceeded the pre-pandemic level. The Institute for Employment Research (IAB) counted almost 1.4 million vacancies in Germany in the third quarter – about 36,000 more than before Corona.
