Vecihi Hürkuş is among Turkey’s most well-known aircraft pilots. Thanks to his engineering and entrepreneurship, Vecihi Hürkuş made the first domestic airplane of our country and wrote his name in history with golden letters. Our first domestic aircraft produced by Vecihi Hürkuş VECIHI K-6, on January 28, 1925 its first flight From Gaziemir to Seydiköy performed.
In memory of today, Defense Industry President İsmail Demir shared a post on his Twitter account. Demir gave the following words in his post: “Our country’s first domestic plane, VECIHI K-6, met the skies 97 years ago today. We commemorate Vecihi Hürkuş, who made the first flight of our first domestic aircraft, and we keep his dreams alive in our new projects.”
Production of our first domestic aircraft, VECIHI K-6 in about 1 year occured.
