The federal government is working on new economic aid

Berlin Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) and Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) are talking a lot with corporate leaders these days. Lindner met company bosses and business representatives on Wednesday and Habeck on Thursday. Both wanted to get an overview of how badly the Ukraine war and its consequences were affecting the German economy.

The meetings obviously left an impression on the traffic-light government: according to information from the Handelsblatt, the federal government is now working “at high pressure” on new economic aid to cushion the consequences of the Ukraine war for German companies.

Among other things, the federal government is considering setting up a protection shield for Russia, similar to the one set up for the corona crisis. But work is also being done on a separate protective shield for the energy industry. Several government officials confirmed this to the Handelsblatt.
